In addition to sharing each other’s company, we ask that you bring an unwrapped toy to benefit a toy drive for the Miami Dora Foundation, a local non-profit making big impacts in the lives of needy children.
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed Thanksgiving Holiday!
President, Miami Young Republicans
Our second annual Miami Young Republicans college scholarship application is underway!
We will award TWO $1,000 scholarships to Republicans attending Barry, FIU, Miami-Dade College or the University of Miami. In keeping with the party’s need to improve with social media, candidates can apply by making a short YouTube video. The details and deadlines can be found here: http://miamiyoungrepublicans.com/miami-yrs-college-scholarship/.
With Miami-Dade doing progressively worse among the youth vote in the last several elections, it’s more important than ever that we reignite interest in this generation. College Republicans are the front line in creating Republicans for decades to come.
Will you please consider helping us out with this scholarship program?
Check out our crowdfunding page, where you can support the next Republican generation, http://ral.ly/t/1336587… please do what you can… and of course spread the word!
Hope you and your family have great holidays. Because of Thanksgiving and Christmas we won’t be having our regular 4th Tuesday meetings until the new year… but we are working on a great Christmas social, though, so stay tuned!

RECAP: NEWS & NOTES FROM THE PAST MONTH
We have a brand spankin’ new website, courtesy of our Special Project Director Sarah Gerber. Give it a test drive:www.miamiyoungrepublicans.com.
Our October meeting, featuring Miami Dade County Property Appraiser Carlos Lopez-Cantera and Keith Fernandez was a success! Both speakers made a call to action to the club, as well as the community, to engage on the local level, to know the issues and challenges facing our neighborhoods and to hold local elected officials accountable, as these local policies will impact our daily lives on a larger scale than state and national will. We enjoyed making new connections and meeting first time attendees. Thank you to all who attended and participated, including those who turned in comments and suggestions cards. We appreciate the feedback and look forward to connecting again! Some photos below
ICYMI- Bradley’s beard is safe! As per the terms of the wager, since FSU pummeled UM to a 41-14 victory, we will now watch Frank grow his beard out until the FSU bowl game….sorry Frank!! We had a decent turnout at our game watching party at A Hole in the Wall in Palmetto Bay, thanks to those who came out and shared a beer and a bite to eat with us!
In addition, the club was represented at the recent Log Cabin Republicans “fun-raiser”; this was a great social event that was headlined by Congresswoman Illeana Ros-Lehtinen, in addition to State Representative Holly Raschein, Jose “Pepe” Diaz, Miami REC Chairman Nelson Diaz. It was a great opportunity to meet and network with a diverse group of Republicans. Congrats to our friends at the LCR Miami for a fantastic event.
Several club members attended a recent Leadership Institute event, co-hosted by The Heritage Foundation, the LIBRE Initiative, and the Faith & Freedom Coalition, which focused on issues that unite Latinos. It is important as a club and for us individually to be tuned into the trends and the topics that strike a chord with Hispanics, including the economy, immigration, and education. Thanks to all those who came out.
FFYR Convention- November 15th -17th, Fort Lauderdale

We’re excited to host Miami-Dade County Property Appraiser Carlos Lopez-Cantera, and Keith Fernandez, attorney, activist and advisor to Rep. Ros-Lehtinen. As usual, HAPPY HOUR starts at 6:30 pm with the meeting starting at about 7:30pm.
Property Appraiser Carlos Lopez-Cantera is the second elected property appraiser in Miami-Dade County. He served as State Representative to Florida House District 113 from 2004 until 2012, where he held several leadership roles, including Majority Leader during his last two terms. He campaigned on a platform to make interaction with the office of the property appraiser easier, increasing community outreach and being more responsive to the needs of the residents of Miami-Dade.
Keith Fernandez is an attorney, activist and now serves as advisor to Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen. He earned his chops campaigning for the Congresswoman in 2009, where he leveraged evolving technologies such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to communicate with voters, volunteers and supporters.
