Hialeah Victory Office Opening This Saturday, Featuring Star-Studded GOP Lineup

Join the Republican Party of Florida this Saturday from 9 am - noon at the new Hialeah office for a special event featuring U.S. Senator George Lemieux, Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart, Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, US Senate candidate Marco Rubio, US House candidate David Rivera, and more!

The office is located at 1738 West 49th Street #15, Hialeah, FL 33012, which is the corner of 46th Street and 77th Court.

After the presentations, stick around to volunteer in the new office, it's easy and even 1 hour is appreciated. Thanks and see you soon!

FFYR Quarterly

Congratulations to all the campaigns and candidates who won this Tuesday's primary! Several members of our club won, and many of the candidates have spoken with our club and appeared at our events over the past year.

More in an upcoming note on the elections and opportunities to get involved --- including another new Victory Office opening, but first a bit of club "housekeeping".

The Florida Federation of Young Republicans, of which we are one of the oldest members, has its quarterly convention in Tampa this weekend at the Sheraton Riverwalk Tampa hotel. These quarterly conventions are a great way to meet other YRs from around the state, exchange ideas about clubs and campaigning, hear from some major political figures from around the state... and of course have some fun :)

If you are attending this weekend's convention, please register as a member of the "Biscayne Bay Young Republicans". That was the name our organization was originally chartered with in 1981, and is our legal incorporation. We only recently have worked as "Miami Young Republicans" because in an age of Facebook and Google and such having a clearer name makes us easier to find. If you've already registered as a Miami YR, let us know and we'll share an e-mail address to make the quick change.

If you are interested in attending, there's still time to register at www.ffyr.org. Hotel rooms may be booked, but there is a hotel next door with reasonable rates as well. Club chairman (and FFYR secretary) Kevin Cerino is available to answer any questions about the quarterly, including coordinating possible rides to and from the event. He can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 305-439-1242.

The next FFYR quarterly is here in Miami in late November, the first one we've had in years, and that's already promising to be HUGE. So, watch for info on that... and of course info on getting involved in the elections, but for now please just make sure your registration for this weekend's event is correct.

If you can't make it, a summary of how it went will be provided at our next general meeting, which is Tuesday, September 28.

Thanks!

President, "Miami Young Republicans"

August News 8/24/10

Three big updates for next week, three big chances to get involved that you'll only hear about here!

Monday night, August 23 from 6:30 pm - 10 pm is Miami YRs night at the new GOP Victory Office! Join us at 2089 SW 67th Ave in Miami. Part of "Strategy to Win", it'll be a night of phone banking: calling Republican voters with important information about Tuesday's election.

Food and drinks will be provided. Come out and see how just a little bit of time volunteering can make a big chunk of difference at the polls!

Tuesday, August 24 is primary day! If you're looking for a campaign to work on for election day, let us know.

As you probably know, our regular meetings are the 4th Tuesday of the month. This month, we're having a special evening --- join us as we support the Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate campaign!

Beginning at 7 pm, join us to watch primary results roll in. The evening will feature appearances by many local prominent officials, including Marco Rubio!

We'll be at the Doubletree Miami Mart (formerly Radisson), located at 711 N.W. 72nd Avenue in Miami.

Join us to watch all the results come in. This event is the official kickoff to the general election campaign!

Why volunteer?

It's how we get good candidates in office. It's how we add the likes of Charlie Crist and Harry Reid to the growing unemployment numbers. And it's a way you can win prizes. Yay bribery!

We're having a special volunteers contest exclusively for Miami Young Republicans members. Here's how it works:

Volunteer to help inform Republican voters and get voters to the polls. The contest will run from the primary meeting to the day of the general election (Tuesday, November 2.) The Miami-Dade Republican Executive Committee has several offices set up around the county and will open more. They will help keep a record of your hours.

We will have prizes for the top 3 biggest volunteers. Details are still being worked out, but rewards will include an autographed copy of Laura Bush's autobiography, a baseball autographed by rookie of the year Chris Coghlan of the Florida Marlins, and club memberships.

You must be a member of Miami Young Republicans to be eligible for the contest. If you aren't a member yet, you can join at www.miamiyr.com for just $25 for an individual or $40 for a family. Winners will be recognized at our November meeting!

Miami Young Republicans --- a rewarding experience!
